Raised in Decatur, Illinois in the distended bosom of an Irish Catholic family, Gina Dobson nurtured her love of writing at St. Mary’s Academy, a convent-style boarding school followed by Millikin University where she earned a degree in English/Writing.

While attending college, Gina suffered a miscarriage in her apartment, the secret of which led her to a brief and unkind marriage.

Following the separation, Gina relocated to Virginia Beach where she worked as head copy writer for Somer’s Communications. Estranged from her family due to a violent and alcoholic boyfriend, she lived off and on in poverty and fear for several years. After the birth of her son in 1997, Gina fled her abuser in order to protect her baby.

One week before my son’s first birthday, Gina was arrested. Handcuffed, shackled, and chained around the waist, she was placed in a cage within a van. For the next ten days she was in and out of multiple jails as she was transported back to Illinois to stand trial for murder while her abuser tried to gain custody of her son.

Since her incarceration and legal battle, Gina Dobson has married and raised two wonderful children to adulthood. Her acting career began on stage with her children in community theater and continued into film and commercial productions. She now co-runs BAB on 3 Productions, a female empowering film production team, and continues to act and write. She also speaks on domestic violence and advocates for women’s rights.

Gina spends her free time camping and hiking in the mountains with her husband, Stan, and her Bich-poo, Finley.
